We’re always amazed by how many updates we get each year. One time it’s a whole new app, another time it’s an amazing improvement that differentiates between innovative developers and others. This time, Microsoft has outdone themselves and the competition with a new idea that will revolutionize data entry in general!

Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to enter data from a piece of paper with just one click? Well, developers at Microsoft have definitely thought of this. Not only that, they’re actually working on a new feature that will make it possible through your Android phone.

How Artificial Intelligence Will Improve Excel for Android Users:

In a recent announcement by the company, Microsoft has made their intent clear to better integrate Artificial Intelligence into their Excel program. They believe that simplicity is one of the main core ideas behind Excel, and they’d like to keep it that way.

The feature uses next-generation optical character recognition (OCR) technology, along with AI unicorn dust to deliver the results we need.

Typing written data from paper to Excel can be time consuming and redundant. We still rely on that method in our everyday tasks. Offices around the world use Excel to organize operations and maintain a documented history of sales and incoming data.

Microsoft believes that through AI, they can improve the process of data-entry to the point of being a walk in the park. They’re currently developing a new feature that will make you able to scan data off paper through your phone, without having to write it down yourself!

What Is This New Feature Exactly?

The new feature is called “Insert Data from Picture.” It simply allows users to scan printed materials through their Excel app, and easily convert it into a digital spreadsheet. This will facilitate the process of data entry for so many people, and open more ways for regular users to integrate Excel into their lives.

Whether you’re a student, an office worker or a dedicated individual in the field of data entry, Insert Data from Picture will definitely be your magic wand. The spreadsheet you’ll get will be editable and organized in the same manner it was printed in the first place.

Of course this will not be enough to rely on if you’re working on something complicated, but it’s a good start on the way of automating data entry around the world. And it will be available to use through your Android phone, which makes the feature all the more compelling!

When Will We Be Able to Use It?

The feature was launched at first to be used by beta users. After a while, it became available to the public. Some users tested the feature with printed lists of ingredients off random products. Some were amazed by how accurate the data were converted onto the spreadsheet, copying specific rows and separating columns just as they were printed. Others found some errors while scanning different lists.

All in all, the feature works pretty well at the moment. Of course, Microsoft has a long way to go for this feature to become the go-to method of data entry. We believe under constant updates and improvements this can be quite helpful in so many ways.

Each tech company is doing their best to outdone the competition and prove to the world the quality of their services. Microsoft has always been a contender to behold in the world of technology. Will they be able to make it to another milestone with their new Insert Data from Picture feature? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.

What do you think of the new updates by Microsoft? We’d like to believe it’s something from the future. Let us know in the comments section below what you think. We’d love to hear from you!
