Tinder in-app purchases no longer use Google Play Billing to avoid 30% cut

The whales of technology are always trying to take a cut from whatever is being done under their watch. Tinder has been one of the leaders in the dating industry, facilitating the process of finding your next loved one through a beautiful platform. But things are not always rosy.

“Google and Apple’s app stores have historically taken a 30% cut on all transactions as a means to recuperate hosting and other services. Large developers have grown increasingly weary of this and turned to other distribution methods. Tinder is the latest example, with the dating service no longer using Google Play’s in-app payments system.”
